Since I was a little girl, drawing on paper with pencils and crayons was part of my self-expression. As an adult, creativity is my passion… I work hard to be #creativeeveryday. I love to make artwork with my hands and dabble in quilting, fibre art, wood block printing, wood carving and painting on stones. However, more often I am intrigued to use computer software as my medium. My illustrations and graphic designs begin as doodles or sketches, which are transferred to my computer—playtime begins.
Creativity is a strong interest of mine, particularly the creative process. I believe everyone has the potential for creativity, artistically and intellectually. It takes hard work and self-discipline to reach one’s creative potential. I love to share my journey and hear other people’s stories about creativity and how it fulfills lives.
Why do I pursue creativity? When I turn to my studio, I escape the fast-paced world I live in. Time slows down when I walk through the studio door; in fact, time becomes irrelevant. As I familiarize myself with my space and collections, my life takes on a quiet rhythm. My senses become acutely aware of colour, texture and the quiet. My heart beats to my own rhythm and a new idea is born.
I never travel far without dogs by my side. They know all my secrets… and despite that, they love me with giant, generous hearts. Their enthusiasm energizes me. Our favourite pastime is joining my husband, Russell, on our boat as we explore the Salish Sea. If you follow my Instagram, you will see glimpses of the #salishseadogs on some of our adventures. Ahoy!
